Colleges and universities across America are discovering that recycling their empty printer cartridges and used cell phones can have significant environmental and financial benefits.
Hands On Recycling provides Turn-Key solutions to campus recycling, tailoring programs that fit each university's unique situation. Our program is designed to create a working model that's most effective for your setting and goals.
Our fundraising program will help your group earn needed cash, while helping the environment and educating your members about the importance of conserving necessary resources. There is no cost associated with the recycling program. We will never ask you to pay for collection materials, nor try to sell you office supplies. Churches, businesses and social groups are also encouraged to recycle empty printer cartridges as well as used cell phones.
Campus recycling is made up of two distinct collection efforts; one covering the institutional (admin, faculty and staff usage), and the other, usage by the student population. Hands On Recycling will help you manage both types of collections.
The most effective collection programs are managed by organized, energetic people. Hands On Recycling will work closely with that person or group to ensure a successful program.
We will provide you with collection boxes at no cost. These boxes could be placed in individual offices, both on campus and off, high-traffic areas such as resident halls, cafeterias and any other popular gathering places. This will make it easy for the staff and students to drop their empty printer cartridges and used cell phones into the collection box.
Volunteers from your committee/organization can periodically transfer these cartridges and cell phones using a return system to a central location. This could be done by coordinating thru your facilities manager as an example.
Hands On Recycling program representatives will pick up, sort, package at the central location. Payment can be made at the time of arranged pick up. You will receive $1.00 for each recyclable ink jet or laser cartridge and cell phone collected, and you hardly have to do a thing.
Upon your request, Hands On Recycling can donate revenues from your recycled cartridges or phones to the group or charity of your choice. We will provide receipts and documentation of all donations made and credited to your institution through our program. We can provide complete tracking and accounting details for all recycled cartridges & cell phones and the revenues they generate.
A small number of cartridge models cannot be recycled*, and have no buy back value. These models will not appear on our list. We recommend that you periodically check the current list on our "Downloads" page.
* EPSON products do not qualify for this program
ESP - Environmentally Sustainable Policy.
Environmental sustainability is defined as a business strategy that both sustains existing resources and generates a profit. Hands On Recycling was founded on this principle.
Used cell phones and empty printer cartridges are a unique solid waste stream in that they have considerable value in comparison to other recyclable materials. Hands On Recycling works with schools, colleges and universities to create profitable collection programs that stand as solid examples of environmental sustainability.
Recycling your cell phone and empty printer cartridges will reduce landfill waste while creating a new source of revenue.
